Amino Acid Infusion

Amino acid infusion therapy

Why are amino acids important?

Amino acids are the essential building blocks of the body's proteins. They play a central role in cell regeneration, the stability of connective tissue, and numerous metabolic processes. Furthermore, as neurotransmitters, they are indispensable for the functioning of our nervous system.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

This infusion therapy can be particularly useful for:

  • Patients with acute infections and colds
  • Patients with chronic susceptibility to infections

Composition of the infusion

The infusion contains 500 ml of a 5% amino acid solution with the following ingredients:

  • Essential amino acids:
  • Isoleucine (1.25 g)
  • Leucine (2.23 g)
  • Lysine (1.72 g)
  • Methionine (1.1 g)
  • Phenylalanine (1.18 g)
  • Threonine (1.05 g)
  • Tryptophan (0.40 g)
  • Valine (1.55 g)
  • Non-essential amino acids:
  • Arginine (2.88 g)
  • Histidine (0.75 g)
  • Asparagine (1.4 g)
  • Alanine (2.63 g)
  • Glycine (3.0 g)
  • Glutamic acid (1.8 g)
  • Proline (1.38 g)
  • Serine (0.58 g)
  • Tyrosine (0.2 g)

Treatment procedure

Before the first infusion, a medical consultation is conducted, including an examination and, if necessary, an analysis of amino acid levels (aminogram). Based on these results, the need for treatment is determined. Our trained staff then administers the infusion.

The therapy includes a total of 10 infusions, with a session lasting approximately 60-120 minutes lasts.

Important instructions

  • In rare cases, mild nausea may occur during the infusion. Reducing the infusion rate may help.
  • Allergic reactions are extremely rare, but in case of an emergency, all necessary measures are available in our practice.

Note for athletes in the anti-doping program

The amino acids contained are permitted under the anti-doping regulations. However, athletes in the doping control program are not allowed to receive infusions of 100 ml as this could temporarily affect blood viscosity. Since our infusion has a volume of 500 ml it is not suitable for athletes in the doping control program.

Frequency of treatment

The complete therapy consists of 5-10 infusions.

Costs & Reimbursement

  • Privately insured: Billing is based on the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ). Full reimbursement by health insurance companies cannot be guaranteed.
